When a musician shares a song, that song evolves their identity and personality. Every album has one song that changes the vision. You learn something different about the artist and the song becomes a landmark of a new sound. Before we discuss the song I don’t want you to hear yet, I want to talk about the opposite song, the one that led to an entirely new album.
The song “You Are Welcome”, I’ve been wanting to show you. However, it’s a bit more multifaceted than your average coffeehouse jam, so it’s been solidifying over time. I gradually put together exultant riffs while improvising live. While the personality of this adventurous song became the bedrock of the new record, I have yet to finalize the vocals.
Now for the song I don’t want you to hear... it’s all written, but the song is super lavish. For this one, I utilize music differently. Whereas music for me is a necessity, for “Sentiment”, it’s just about being playful. That luxury is why you haven’t heard the live demo yet. But eventually I’ll be ready to reveal the song.
